The Friday and Saturday are always amazing with a firework display on the Saturday evening around the harbour:

What happens?

The week-long event on Mevagissey harbour features exhibitions, food demonstrations, live music and lots of fish dishes to eat. Along with choirs and bands, flora dances, children’s entertainment and competitions, plus colourful parades, boat and raft races, a fete and a huge firework display.

How can you take part?

From early afternoon every day there is a programme of events you can take part in. There’s crab catching on the harbour, a pavement artist competition and a children’s tea for the kids, you can watch fishing boat races on the water, dance along the street in the traditional flora dance, swing your partner at the ceilidh or simply find a seat and enjoy listening to the many choirs and bands that perform during the week. The festival ends with a colourful carnival parading through Mevagissey’s ancient streets and a spectacular firework display from the outer harbour. Most of the festival events are free of charge.

Cornish treats on offer include fudge, antiques, boutiques, Fatface, shoes, Boots the chemist, handmade silver jewellery, art galleries and gift shops.  Mevagissey offers mackerel and deep sea fishing trips, speedboat sightseeing rides, free museum, model railway and aquarium, the ferry to Fowey for a lovely day out or one of its other destinations.  For a lovely beach there is Portmellon where you can get a snack at the Snack Shack or hire a paddleboard, or a short car ride or coastal walk to Gorran Haven for the most fabulous beach. Or you could just spend the day on the balcony…overlooking the sea, Mevagissey Harbour and Chapel Point enjoying the lovely seaview of the South Cornish coast.

From the 25th of June to the 1st of July is Mevagissey Feast Week, The weeklong event features exhibitions, demonstrations, live music and lots of fish dishes to eat. Mevagissey Feast Week 2015

If you like fish you’ll love Feast Week.  Feast Week is  very special time for Mevagissey. It has celebrated the ‘Feast of St Peter’ since 1754.  It has evolved into a wonderful community event, where everyone is welcomed to  join us in the celebrations.
